Charles O. “Chuck” Lee
President & Chief Executive Officer
Before joining Cornerstone Hospice as President and Chief Executive Officer in 2013, Chuck had more than 11 years of executive-level hospice experience in developing and executing strategic plans, building leaders, expanding into new markets, increasing patient referrals and daily census, and enhancing volunteer and fund-raising efforts. Chuck holds a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Loyola University in New Orleans, LA. He earned his Master of Arts at The George Washington University, Washington, DC, and his Master of Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI. Also, Chuck has completed an extended internship in Clinical Pastoral Education at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola FL, and he is a Permanent Deacon, ordained in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee.
Chief Operations Officer
Rhonda began her hospice and palliative care career in 1999 as a Social Worker and then moved to the field of Compliance in 2001. She worked for several Hospice Organizations in Central Florida. She became the Vice President of Compliance for Cornerstone Hospice in 2008 and in 2014 became its Chief Operating Officer. Guided by the objectives of the organization, Rhonda’s role as the COO is to provide the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the organization has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. Rhonda is a Florida native, who graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor in Social Work and a Masters in Public Health. She is also certified in Health Care Compliance. Rhonda resides in Lakeland with her two children, Dayton and Ellie.
Todd A. Webb
Chief Financial Officer
Prior to joining Cornerstone’s team in December of 2016, Todd previously served as the Chief Financial Officer for Big Bend Hospice, in Tallahassee, Florida. Todd is a Certified Public Accountant and has 15+ years of Public Accounting Experience including 10+ years of owning and managing his own Practice in Western North Carolina, where he also had the opportunity to serve 6 years in various leadership capacities on the Operating Board of Four Seasons Compassion for Life. Todd graduated from the University of North Carolina-Asheville Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He currently resides in Sarasota with his wife, Tonia, and three children, Bianca, Nick, and Caitlin.
Kathy Lieffort, MS
Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer
Kathy joined Cornerstone in 2015. With 30+ years of healthcare administration, Kathy has developed and implemented a variety of start-ups, including: physician practices both private and hospital owned, hospitalist programs and patient-centered medical homes. In her role at Cornerstone, Kathy is responsible for the strategic growth whether that is growth of current markets, new markets, new service lines or developing innovative and strategic partnerships that support Cornerstone’s goals. Kathy has a BA from Rollins College in Organizational Communication and a MS degree from University of Central Florida in Healthcare Administration.
Dr. Michael Shapiro
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Shapiro came to Cornerstone in 2013 with three years prior hospice experience. He provides oversight and clinical stewardship of all medical practitioners at Cornerstone. He clinically manages pharmacy protocols and the oversight of complex admissions. He also directly leads two home hospice teams in Polk County. Prior to joining Cornerstone, Dr. Shapiro spent three years as the Southwestern regional sales manager for Cook Surgical. He completed residency and remained as a faculty member at the Mercer University School of Medicine. He served as Medical director for two years for the Laborer’s Clinic in NV. Dr. Shapiro earned his BA in Sociology from Clemson University. He attended the Medical School at Ross University and completed a residency at Mercer University School of Medicine/Medical Center of Central Georgia. He also did a Fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at University of South Florida, Morsani School of Medicine.
Vice President, Human Resources
Jeanne joined Cornerstone Hospice in August, 2013. Her experience includes more than 20 years of HR leadership with 10 years in the healthcare industry where she led teams in human resources, employee health, volunteer services and physician practices. She most recently served as the VP of Human Resources at Livingston Services Corporation in New Jersey. As a Senior Professional in Human Resources, her role at Cornerstone Hospice will direct all of the people functions for the interdisciplinary teams of medical practitioners, social workers, chaplains and support staff dedicated to serving patients in the seven-county territory. Additionally, she is responsible for translating the organization’s strategic plans into operational ones.
Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer
Jennifer joined Cornerstone Hospice in April 2015 and has more than 15 years of experience across a broad spectrum of organizational functions, including human resources, finance, internal audit, compliance and risk management. Jennifer worked for another not-for-profit Florida hospice organization focusing on internal audits, compliance and risk. In her role as the VP, Chief Compliance Officer, Jennifer is responsible for overseeing the Compliance, Quality, Risk and Education functions. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts in both Human Resources and Finance from Florida Southern College and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Florida. Jennifer is also certified in healthcare compliance, internal audit, and hospice and palliative care administration.
Ursula Cutler, RN
Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Upon arriving at Cornerstone Hospice in 2014, Ursula had had a long and varied career in healthcare and healthcare marketing. She has worked at hospice agencies in clinical and marketing roles. At Cornerstone, she oversees staff dedicated to clinical and community outreach. Additionally she manages all advertising and marketing outreach as well as educational collateral creative.
Executive Director, Foundation
In 2009, Nick came to Cornerstone Hospice after 25 years of fundraising experience at the American Heart Association and, more recently, with the University of Miami, School of Medicine. Nick is responsible for providing leadership for support of the valuable services and programs offered by Cornerstone Hospice. As donations to the Foundation are translated into better care for all people in our area affected by serious illness, improving people’s lives becomes a realization.
Executive Director – Lake/Sumter Counties
Jason joined Cornerstone in 2017. He has spent the majority of his healthcare career in Hospice and Palliative Care but he also has experience in private duty home care and physician practices. Jason earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toledo, Ohio and a Masters of Healthcare Administration from National University. After obtaining his masters of Healthcare Administration, he pursued a career in hospice leadership. Through his emphasis on professional development, compassionate management and team building leadership, Jason has contributed to many successful programs and process improvements in several hospice and healthcare organizations.
Executive Director – Orange and Osceola Counties
Violet came to Cornerstone Hospice in 2011 with 17 years of prior hospice experience. She began her hospice career as a case manager and managed home teams. Then at a large hospice she managed the admissions department, making it a cohesive and successful department. At Cornerstone, as Executive Director she oversees the operations of Orange and Osceola counties. Violet earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from South University, graduated Suma Cum Laude. She is currently working on a Master’s degree in Health Care Administration.
Executive Director – Polk, Hardee, Highlands Counties
Jason joined Cornerstone Hospice in September, 2014. His experience includes more than fifteen years of leadership experience, ten in the private sector leading the education and quality departments of a fortune 50 company, and five within the hospice industry directing numerous administrative and clinical functions in a nonprofit setting. Jason brings with him a certification and an extensive background in Six Sigma, which is a disciplined, data-driven approach and methodology of eliminating deficiencies, which he has used to improve quality and streamline practices during his tenure at Cornerstone.
